Summary: | West Java is an area with active tectonic activity with a complex geological setting. The complexity of the structure in the Sukabumi area, especially the Ciletuh Geopark and its surroundings, makes the area interesting for further study. The research area is located in the Cimandiri fault zone and adjacent to the Ciletuh Amphitheater. The research area is located at UTM coordinates 48S 664000mT – 673000mT 9198000mU – 9208000mU with an area of 9 km x 10 km or 90 km2. The purpose of this research is to conduct a special study of tectonic geomorphological analysis in Ciemas District, Sukabumi Regency, West Java Province.
The method used is a morphometric approach using nine tectonic geomorphological indices: Mountain Front Sinousity (Smf), Drainage Basin Asymmetry Factor (AF), Transverse Topographic Symmetry (T), Hypsometric Integral (HI), Channel Sinuosity (S), Ratio of Valley Floor Width to Valley Height (Vf), Stream Length-Gradient Index (SL), Basin Elongation Ratio (Re), Relative Declivity Extension (RDE); Then applied to three watersheds in the study area.
The geomorphology of the Ciletuh Geopark area and its surroundings is divided into four geomorphological units, namely the Homocline Hills Unit, the Intrusion Hills Unit, the Anticline Valley Unit, and the Alluvial Plain Unit. The stratigraphy of the Ciletuh Geopark area and its surroundings is divided into six unofficial units, namely the Conglomerate Unit, Tuff Unit, Volcanic Breccia Unit, Dacite Intrusion Unit, Coastal Sediment Unit, and Alluvial Sediment Unit. The geological structure of the Ciletuh Geopark area and its surroundings are Tijateul Dextral Strike-Slip Fault, Mekarjaya Dextral Strike-Slip Fault, Tamanjaya Dextral Strike-Slip Fault, Mekarmukti Dextral Strike-Slip Fault and Ciletuh Anticline with the main directions southwest-southeast.
Tectonic geomorphological analysis using a morphometric approach to the Ciletuh Geopark area and its surroundings resulted in three watersheds, namely DAS 1, DAS 2, and DAS 3. DAS 1 has the highest tectonic activity value, DAS 2 has a less active activity value, while DAS 3 is quite active. The research area covers most of the area of the Amphitheater which is located in the west. In general, the Ciletuh Geopark area is influenced by active tectonic plates so that the geological structure is quite active.
