Tofu is one of the most common soybean products consumed in Indonesia. The tofu industry has spread widely, especially in the island of Java, and tofu products can be easily found in various regions. In spite of its huge tofu consumption, the waste management regulation of tofu industry in Indonesia is not well established. There are a lot of cases when rivers was contaminated with liquid waste coming from tofu industry without proper waste management, even without any waste management at all. If it is allowed to continue, it will give negative impact on the environment. One of the alternative materials made from liquid waste produced by the tofu industry that has been developed in Indonesia is Nata de Soya. This alternative material was produced by processing the liquid waste obtained from tofu industry into transparent gel. The material is then turned into sheets called soya leather through drying process. Using experiment method, this research explore the potential of soya leather through manupulating it’s composition, mold and form, colour, lamination, and wax coating, Final product of this research is a variation of jewelry design which consist of bracelet, earing, and necklace that implement the experimental results which consist of manipulation of forming, colouring, lamination, and wax coating technique. The novelty offered in this research is the method of forming as a production process, which in previous studies had problems with standarizing it’s shape and size of the finished material of soya leather. text |
