Summary: | The influence of human existence on earth greatly affects environmental changes. During the
hunting and gathering period that spread, every time Homo sapiens stepped on a new area,
there were generally many extinctions in its territory, extinction events occurred again when
cultural imperialism was brought by globalization to villages and undermined the
environmental ecosystem and local wisdom, even though there was a lot of cultural wisdom.
owned by the local community that goes in harmony with nature and upholds the preservation
of the surrounding environment. Collective wisdom is what regulates humans not to consume
or take excessively, this is inversely proportional to modern humans who regard power and
control over natural resources as progress. We are increasingly feeling the impact of
consumerism and materialism as a chasm from spiritualism that separates human culture
from responsibility for nature as part of the locality.
In the culture of the postmodern era, creativity has an important role as a manifestation of
recognizing local identity. Batu Lonceng Village is one of the villages in Indonesia which is
threatened by the tradition of protecting its nature when people are increasingly pragmatic
and abandon local wisdom, dependence on local materials also needs to be revitalized
through collective crafts originating from local wisdom so that it does not interfere much with
daily activities and local identity.
This study aims to increase the thickness of local cultural identity while at the same time
activating local material craft activities to build re-dependence between the community and
nature by re-popularizing it through local festivals or Pesta rakyat which previously had
become a tradition in Batu Lonceng Village.
The introduction of contemporary crafts through the bricolage method is expected to open up
new opportunities for the community to see other perspectives of its natural wealth as a form
of community resilience in responding to modernist culture which is not necessarily in line
with the culture of the surrounding community.
This study uses qualitative ethnographic data collection methods around the Suntenjaya
Village area through guided free interviews with snowball sampling which will be validated
through triangularization of data. The Jinshin no hana approach is used to map solutions
with the community which will later be found in an agreement through the design thinking
method. In the Jinshin no hana approach, researchers will position themselves as facilitators
of activities and make the community as the main actors in carrying out social change
towards better cultural preservation and conservation of their own local wisdom. Meanwhile
the Treasure Mapping method is used to concentrate the activation process in the form of
festivals or Pesta rakyat.
By providing a new interpretation of science from existing resources and local wisdom, the
bricolage method was chosen as a foundation of thinking that best suited the needs to solve
the problems in this project. It is hoped that appropriate products will be created that are
practically applied in rural areas while at the same time preserving local wisdom in the
village environment towards tourism education villages.
