ANALYSIS OF GEOTHERMAL POTENTIAL AREA OF REGION X BASED ON MODELING AND INVERSION OF 1-D AND 2-D MAGNETOTELLURIC DATA

Geothermal energy is energy that comes from geothermal sources resulting from the interaction of magma and groundwater in the vicinity. One method of geothermal exploration is the magnetotelluric method which is one of the electromagnetic-sounding methods that aims to determine the subsurface struct...

INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/66928 Geothermal energy is energy that comes from geothermal sources resulting from the interaction of magma and groundwater in the vicinity. One method of geothermal exploration is the magnetotelluric method which is one of the electromagnetic-sounding methods that aims to determine the subsurface structure. This method measures electric field (E) and magnetic fields (H) in the frequency range 10-5 Hz - 104 Hz. In this study, the MT data processing was carried out from 24 sounding points in the X region, namely by 1-D and 2-D inversion modeling. Because the earth has a laterally variable structure, the 1D inversion modeling has limitations, so 2-D inversion modeling is also carried out. From the results of the 1-D and 2-D inversion, the resistivity variation in the X region is obtained which consists of a layer with a low resistivity of < 20 ?m which is suspected to be a caprocks layer. Furthermore, with a resistivity value range of 20-100 ?m which suspected to be a reservoir layer. Then there is bedrock with a resistivity value of >100 ?m, namely granite that conducts heat conductively to its surroundings which is suspected to be a source of heat. text
