The probiotics bacteria was isolated from the mud of mangrove jungle in Laki Island of Kepulaan Seribu. Forty five bacteria were isolated from the mud samples. The bacteria were then selected by paper disc method and liquid culture method. There were eighteen isolates bacteria which can inhibit V. harveyi growth from the paper disc method. From the eighteen isolates, only seven best isolates of probiotics bacteria were tested their effectiveness in inhibit <u>V. harveyi</u> growth in liquid culture method. Those isolates bacteria were K15, K21c, K25, K27, B18, K5 and B1d. The diameter of the inhibition zone from the seven isolates in paper disc method in sequence were 4,99; 3,23; 2,38; 2,28; 2,27; 1,94; 1,64 mm(s), and in liquid culture method they can inhibit V. harveyi growth until 99,66% (isolate K15); 89,12% (isolate K27); 77,89% (isolate K21c); and 72,79% (isolate K5) respectively. Isolate bacteria K15, which have the widest inhibition of <u>V. harveyi</u> from paper disc method and liquid culture method, was then tested its toxicity to tiger shrimp larvae (PL15). The toxicity test of the inoculation 10% isolate K15 with concentration of 103 cell/mL, 104 cell/mL, and 105 cell/mL to the shrimp larvae resulted in survival rate percentation of 97,5%, 100%, and 98,59% respectively. The bacteria were then identified as <u>Alteromonas haloplanktis</u>. From this research, it can be conclude that isolate K15 can effectively inhibit <u>V. harveyi</u> growth. Isolate K15 (<u>Alteromonas haloplanktis</u>) at inoculum concentration of 10% and density of 10<sup>3</sup>, 10<sup>4</sup>, dan 10<sup>5</sup> cell/mL were not toxic or kill tiger shrimp larvae. The survival rate of tiger shrimp larvae at concentration 10<sup>3</sup> cell/mL of species K15 were 97,5%, at concentration 104 cell/mL were 100%, and at concentration 105 cell/mL were 98,59%. Isolate K15 (<u>Alteromonas haloplanktis</u>) were potential to be applied as probiotics in tiger shrimp cultivation.</p> text
