THE EFFECT OF UTILIZATION OF DUCK MANURE FERTILIZER (ANAS DOMESTICUS) AND COMPOST ON THE GROWTH OF CATFISH (CLARIAS GARIEPINUS VAR SANGKURIANG) IN AQUAPONIC SYSTEMS

Catfish (Clarias gariepinus var sangkuriang) is an aquaculture commodity that acts as a source of animal protein for the Indonesian people with a production growth value of 56.32% in 2015 - 2018. To be able to meet the market needs, an approach is needed to increase catfish production without reduci...

To be able to meet the market needs, an approach is needed to increase catfish production without reducing other food production. One model that can be used is an aquaponics system which is a combination of integrated fish and plant cultivation. In this study, the aquaponics system was initiated with the application of organic fertilizer (a combination of duck manure and compost) which aims to obtain the best combination of growth and biomass of sangkuriang catfish. The study was an experimental design with 5 treatments consisting of control treatment without the addition of fertilizer (P1), 750 grams duck fertilizer (P2), duck fertilizer 1500 grams (P3), leaf compost fertilizer 750 grams (P4), and leaf compost fertilizer 1500 grams (P5), by stocking 150 catfish fingerlings measuring 9-10 cm (60 days) in 5 units of the treatment culture ponds measuring 2 m x 0.5 m x 0.75 m. The research activity was carried out from January 2022 to March 2022. Based on the research, it was found that P5 the treatment of 1500 grams leaf compost fertilizer as the most optimal for catfish growth and biomass yields with the highest survival rate, specific growth rate, absolute weight growth and absolute length growth. text
