Summary: | Leadership is important for students because having strong leadership skills can help students do better after they graduate. There may be differences perspective of leadership style among the undergraduate management students that came from different university. Therefore, this research aims to do comparative study of the leadership style and effectiveness of two different universities students in Indonesia that majoring in management using Situational Leadership Model by Hersey and Blanchard.This research was conducted by distributing Leader Effectiveness and Adaptability Description questionnaires that already being adapted to undergraduate management students of Institut Teknologi Bandung and Universitas Sumatera Utara. The research samples consist of 90 students from each university, with the total number of 180 students from the two universities. The answer from the questionnaires interpreted by the table matrix to count frequency of leadership style and the effectiveness score of the leadership style they have. The effectiveness score compared by using T-test from IBM SPSS. The result of this comparative study shown that undergraduate management students from Institut Teknologi Bandung and Universitas Sumatera Utara have the same perceived dominant leadership style that is Coaching Style. This research also finds that both universities’ undergraduate management students still indicate a low level of perceived leadership style effectiveness and adaptability leadership. Based on the result of this research, both universities expected to encourage students to learn and understand deeply about situational leadership style. |
