Summary: | The Covid-19 pandemic has become a global crisis, especially in business industries. Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA) has become a common practice used by companies since 2019. In Indonesia, startup companies were become a current business trend. FWA is the choice of startup companies to carry out employee and working activities, in line with the governement’s policies about working method during pandemic, such as hybrid work and WFH. Employees will depend on the office workspace to carry out various work activities such as social and physical environment.
The purpose of the study is to identify the factors that influence FWA of startup employess and to identify the physical attributes that affect workspace model in new normal era. A mixed sequential exploratory approach was used in this study, the first stage was used a qualitative approach to explore the FWA of employees in startup companies in new normal era. Data collection was used a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) instrument, conducted with 5 participants using Zoom software and was analyzed using Miro Free software and MonkeyLearn website for the coding process. The results of the FGD exploration were FWA factors and workspace physical attributes. The second stage was carried out on a large sample and statistical calculations. The questionnaire was distributed to 224 online respondents who worked in startup companies. The data was analyzed using analysis factors and the data was processed by using SPSS software.
Based on the results of factor analysis, it was found 5 factors of employee FWA such as telework factors, work location factors, policies and regulatories factors, facilities factors, and personal factors. In addition, it was found 5 physical attributes that influence the design of startup company workspace model in the new normal era, such as requirements of the space, density and distance, workstation, layout, and look and feel. |
