Summary: | With the passage of time, the world's population continues to increase that align with
the increasing need for resources, one of them is energy. In general, the use of energy
in the world is still dominated by fossil-based energy or known as non-renewable
energy. If there is no energy shifting, there will be some serious environmental problems
and energy scarcity in the future. Indonesia has a national ene rgy target of 23% in
2025 and 31% in 2050 to use renewable energy. Currently, the percentage achieved is
only 11.2% thus some various efforts are needed to achieve this target. In urban context,
apart from increasing energy demand, population growth also has implications for an
increase in the accumulation of waste in landfills. One of the cities experi encing this is
the Bandung City which produces 1477 tons of waste every day. Most of the waste
produced is organic waste, which is 930 tons or 63% of the waste generation. Bandung
has made various efforts to reduce of organic waste, one of them is through a waste
sorting program called KangPisMan (Kurangi Pisahkan Manfaatkan ). One area that
has succeeded in implementing the waste sorting program is the Cihaurgeulis SubDistrict. As a solution to reduce waste and also to increase the percentage of renewable
energy utilization, the use of biogas energy sourced from organic waste is quite
promising in answering these problems. Biogas itself is one type of renewable energy
that is closely related to community participation thus the community readiness is the
main factor. Therefore, in this study, identification of community readiness in the use
of new and renewable energy based on biogas will be carried out in Cihaurgeulis SubDistrict. This study uses two types of data collection, namely primary and secondary.
Primary data collection was conducted by interviewing 17 key informants to obtain
information and assess the readiness of the community in Cihaurgeulis Sub-District. In
addition, interviews were also conducted with representatives of Cibangkong SubDistrict as a good practice precedent that was replicated for Cihaurgeulis Sub-District
in terms of biogas utilization. Then, the secondary data consisted of several planning
documents and a masterplan for waste management in Bandung City and Cihaurgeulis
Sub-District. The analysis used is content analysis to identify community readiness
variables, then scoring analysis to assess community readiness, and qualitative
descriptive analysis to explain the existing conditions of each community readiness
variable. The results showed that the value of community readiness in Cihaurgeulis
Village was 15.52 and belong to preparation level. There are several variables of
community readiness that have not yet optimal, such as community efforts, knowledge,
community conditions, and program and policy support. Therefore, the next step to
increase the readiness of the community of Cihaurgeulis Sub-District in the use of
biogas is to conduct interventions and strategic plans for each of these variables. |
