Description
Summary:The founding of tool machines has brought numerous positive impacts on human life, especially in the field of industrial activities. Due to the limited competency, the utilization of local machine tools in Indonesia can not hinder the contribution of export activities from other countries, including South Korea. In 2021 alone, ITB has received a grant in the form of 50 lathe machines from South Korea (type NARA 4308) for research purposes. One of the purposes is for developing a reverse engineering mechanism for the lathe machine to be adopted for local industry capability. On this occasion, the topic of manufacturing process analysis will be included, especially for the bed component. The breakdown of analysis part includes interpretation of engineering drawing, determining the order of manufacturing process as well the tools and machinery that are needed, finishing analysis that is oriented on surface finishing and heat treatment topic, and visualization of the manufacturing process. The techniques that are being utilized consist of the fundamental concept of engineering drawing interpretation, process planning, and manufacturing process. The required specification includes dimension, tolerancing, surface roughness, and surface hardness. The main goal of this research is to disseminate comprehensive information about the steps, method and process, and quantitative parameters that are needed to produce the bed component. Ultimately, this research could be a reference for the local manufacturing industry to produce its very own lathe machines.
