Description
Summary:Education is the key to a nation’s development, and the population of its younger generation plays a vital role in the nation's progress. With this knowledge, Bappenas data for 2020 shows a projected spike in the productive age community in Indonesia in the range of 2020-2035, known as Demographic Bonus, within the age range of 14 to 64 years. If properly used, the demographic bonus can be an opportunity for Indonesia to further develop through the optimal quality of its human resources and encourage accelerating the development sector in Indonesia. However, if the demographic bonus is not utilized and appropriately prepared, its presence will be in vain. This moment will only create a surge in the young population who are not well prepared to be ready to compete and have the potential to increase the number of youth unemployed in Indonesia. The Central Government has lowered the Community Learning Activity Center (PKBM) program in the form of non-formal education that facilitates the empowerment of the potential of young people. This program goes hand in hand with the increasing presence of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The Creative Learning and Entrepreneurship Center project is carried out to provide a space that accommodates the educational and training needs of developing young people's work by maximizing the potential and resources in the region. The location of this project, Soreang, the capital city of Bandung Regency, is chosen because of its function as the capital and development center, as well as having the highest productive age population in the district, so the potential for youth unemployment is also higher. The design issues in this project are the presence of a non-formal educational environment for productive children aged 14-24 years and the implementation of strategies for empowering local youth potential based on local resources and superior products. These two problems are answered with design concepts based on generation theory, learning spaces theory, creative spaces theory, sense of community theory, human and well-being theory, architectural approaches to Generation Z, and collaboration between MSMEs and PKBM. The space functions presented in the project to address issues are creative learning centers, business training centers, craft studios, convection, and the food industry, as well as public areas and workshops.
