DESIGNING MSME INCUBATION FACILITY IN KOTA BANDUNG

Indonesia, especially Kota Bandung, is in a demographic bonus condition with a percentage of productive age around 71% (BPS, 2020). This condition makes people need more jobs. Therefore, a solution is needed to open new jobs, one of them is MSMEs. The problem faced in MSMEs development is the lack of an environment that can support MSMEs to develop such resources and knowledge. Therefore, one of the solutions to the challenges is through business incubation facilities. The business incubation process for MSMEs requires facilities that can accommodate various types of businesses and users. This is slightly different from the tendency of business incubation facilities which mainly focus on technology. Therefore, an approach is needed that can realize more public and open facilities, namely public space. In addition, there is another approach, namely creative space, to create an environment that supports MSMEs' innovation. Based on the two approaches, the design criteria are formulated, that is interaction, flexibility, natural elements, and aesthetic elements. In addition to these two approaches, other things affect the design criteria, namely the characteristics of MSMEs. Therefore, the interaction criteria that are related to most of the characteristics of MSMEs are used as the main criteria. Based on the main criteria, the main concept is formulated, which is the interaction space. The concept of interaction space is realized through several strategies, that as dividing interaction zones (primary, secondary, and private), adding spaces that can accommodate interactions, and incorporating elements of flexibility, nature, and aesthetics.
