Summary: | As an archipelagic country with 71% of the area is the sea, Indonesia should pay more attention to the marine sector as the basis for the development of coastal areas. However, in reality, the development of the marine sector in Indonesia has not yet indicated a positive progress and currently has unclear solutions in dealing with future scenarios. This can be seen through the fishermen's welfare that is still low and the marine fisheries catches have decreased due to the damage to the coastal environment. The World Bank and the Government of the Republic of Indonesia initiated a blue economy policy that is expected to be able to maintain the balance between nature and humans in the process of sustainable development in coastal areas. The essence of this policy is to learn and innovate from nature and the logic of the ecosystem. This goal is then formulated in four blue economy implementation strategies, namely, marine and coastal asset management, waste management, catch collection and monitoring, and tourism sector development. Furthermore, these strategies are being used as the basis to accomplish the development of fish market facilities to create prosperous coastal communities and coastal environmental areas that develop in sustainability. This initiated project is by redesigning a fish market in a location that has economic, social, and environmental problems which were deemed not to represent sustainability, precisely at the Muara Angke area. The main typology of this project is a modern fish market (PIM) and a fish auction place (TPI) with an environment that prioritizes a regenerative, recreational, and integrated environment. This project is initiated by the Department of Food Security, Maritime Affairs and Agriculture of DKI Jakarta Province and is expected to be able to overcome a myriad of problems above. |
