Summary:PT. Berkarya Maju Mandiri is a furniture manufacturing industry that has separate offices and workshops. The location of the workshop owned by the company is used as a place for furniture production which is focused on being carried out by employees in the Technical and Production Department. In the production process, the company has determined the division of work that is assessed according to the specialization of expertise for each individual employee. However, it turns out that there are many complaints about the high workload experienced by employees. This is in line with employee turnover intention which has been increasing in recent months. Therefore, the company should not only divide the work based on the specialization of the expertise of its employees, but also must be able to provide jobs with an even workload in order to increase the efficiency of the production flow and optimize the performance of its employees. Company should be able to know the level of employee satisfaction by conducting a job satisfaction survey and evaluating the factors that most influence employee job dissatisfaction. The method that can be used to measure employee workload capability is to measure mental and physical workload using the NASA-Task Load Index and Cardiovascular Load methods. Both methods can represent the workload experienced by employees in quantitative data so as to assist companies in assessing the gap between the actual workload received and the capabilities of each employee. The results of this study indicate that the Technical and Production Department has the most employees who experience high workloads, so a workload distribution method that is relevant to the type of work in the Technical and Production Department is needed. The work in this department is oriented towards operational processes to produce furniture with several work elements grouped in one predetermined work station. The design that can be implemented for companies to divide the workload of employees is to use the assembly-line balancing method. There are two approaches used to balance the assembly line in this study, namely the Largest Candidate Rule and the Ranked Positional Weight approach. The result of the most optimal assembly line balancing is the Ranked Positional Weight approach. The result of the new line balancing requires a minimum number of 7 work stations. From the grouping of work elements into 7 predetermined work stations, the path efficiency value increased by 20%, line balancing with the RPW approach was also able to reduce balance delay by 19.98% and suppress the smoothing index value to 52.7.
