INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/67494 An international borderline separates Papua New Guinea, an independent country, and West Papua, a province of Indonesia. West Papuan separatists continue to pursue independence from Indonesia and the conflict between the two sides has become violent. With both sides possessing firearms, a light vehicle to carry one driver and one passenger is needed for military operations, where the vehicle is capable of operating in off-road conditions and possesses bulletproof material for protection against bullets. One solution is to modify an existing vehicle such as an electric trike or e-trike, which is being developed by the National Center of Sustainable Transportation Technology (NCSTT) for commercial purposes as the advancement of electric vehicles continues to escalate in Indonesia. This research provides a solution for the e-trike to be aligned with the design requirement and objectives of a military vehicle with a modified design of its body and frame. A comparison of existing bulletproof materials for the e-trike body and its windows are presented using the decision matrix and the best bulletproof material is selected. The design of the passenger box and modification of the e-trike frame are created using the Solidworks software and the static structural analysis is performed using the Ansys software, where the contour of von-Mises stress is plotted. text |
