Excessive consumption of paracetamol will cause kidney and liver damage due to the presence of toxic metabolites. Therefore, sensitive, accurate, fast, and simple methods for paracetamol determination in pharmaceutical preparations are needed. In this study, the analytical method of paracetamol was developed voltammetrically using silver nanoparticle modified carbon paste (EPK) electrodes and polyphenol oxidase (PPO). Silver nanoparticles were synthesized using chemical reduction method and PPO enzymes were obtained from bananas. The supporting electrolyte used in in the measurements was 0.1 M phosphate buffer of pH 6. The modified electrode (EPK-PPO-AgNP) had beter sensitivity and stability compared to those of EPK, EPK-PPO, and EPK-AgNP. The voltammetric technique used in all measurements was differential pulse voltammetry (DPV). Repeated measurements of paracetamol (n = 30) with EPK-PPO-AgNP provides RSD value of 5.4%, much better than those obtained with EPK. The linier range of the calibration curve was obtained in the concentration range of 100-1000 ?M with a detection limit of 3 ?M. Determination of paracetamol in two commercial drugs with the modified electrode resulted in percent of recovery close to 100%, which indicates good accuracy of the method. text
