Description
Summary:The city of Bandung is experiencing a fairly rapid development of build-up areas so that it has an impact on the development of built-up areas in the surrounding suburbs. Changes in vegetation land cover into pavement have a direct impact on increasing surface temperatures, resulting in the Urban Heat Island (UHI) phenomenon, a phenomenon where urban areas have higher surface temperature than their surroundings. This study aims to identify the effect of the development of the built-up area on the increase of Urban Heat Island (UHI). To identify the effect using spatial analysis and simple linear regression. This study also predicts the distribution of Surface Urban Heat Island (SUHI) in the Urban Area Cekungan Bandung in 2038 through Cellullar Automata analysis. Based on the results of the study, the development of the built-up area in the Urban Area Cekungan Bandung in the period of 2005-2020 increased by 24,10%, where the suburban area has a higher development rate of the build-up area than the core area. The surface temperature of the Urban Area Cekungan Bandung has increased by 6,7 oC in the period of 2005-2020. The core area experiences an increase in surface temperature which is higher than the surrounding area. The increase in average temperature was also followed by an increase in the area affected by SUHI in the period of 2005-2020, which increased by 97.234,44 Ha or 28,15%. Changes in the built-up land in the Urban Area Cekungan Bandung have a significant impact on the increase in the area affected by SUHI and the increase in average surface temperature. The embodiment of the spatial pattern as mandated in the Urban Planning of Urban Area Cekungan Bandung has an impact on an increase in surface temperature by 7,8 oC and an increase in the area affected by UHI of 154.508,14 Ha in 2038. In order to minimize the potential increase in surface temperature and SUHI affected areas in the central area that is done by private green open space and green open area provider on an environmental scale. Meanwhile in suburban areas, the effort that can be done are preventing the conversion of protected areas in the form of forests, local protection and conservation areas.
