Description
Summary:According to National Waste Management Information System (SIPSN) data in 2021, Indonesia generated 28.69 million tons of garbage per year and 15.6% of it is plastic waste. West Java as the province with the largest population in Indonesia is the largest contributor to waste. Waste management that is not good enough made residents throwing their garbage into the Citarum River. In 2021 the waste collected from the Citarum River reached 15,838 tons/day with a percentage of plastic waste of 15.35%. Therefore we need a trash skimmer that can collect plastic waste on the surface of the water as a solution to clean the Citarum River. The purpose of designing the trash skimmer is to be able to transport large amounts of garbage on the surface of the water, and also not sink or have difficulty in moving. In this study, a radio frequency module-based communication system will be designed, a drive system consisting of a conveyor circuit and a propeller circuit, and an IoT-based monitoring system consisting of a series of waste capacity warning systems, a series of power monitoring systems, and a series of the latest location tracking systems. Based on the trash skimmer test, the trash skimmer communication system data obtained in the form of a communication success range of the RF transmitterreceiver module, which is 0-30m. The communication quality of the RF module is affected by distance and obstructions as evidenced by the smaller the number of signals received when the distance and/or obstructions are getting thicker. An IoTbased trash skimmer monitoring system was created using the InfluxDB database with the Node-Red program using the Raspberry Pi data processor. The data displayed is in the form of monitoring power presentations, waste capacity warning systems, and current locations using the Grafana dashboard API.
