The availability of green open space and the choice of public walking mode is one
of the indicators of the city. Accessibility of space is a condition of the circulation
path of the movement of people to reach the destination of the trip. The accessibility
of green open space is claimed to be able to change people's decisions to choose the
mode of walking. This phenomenon will be reviewed through research with a case
study of Bandar Lampung City. This study aims to explore the factors that influence
people's walking decisions and the accessibility of green open spaces in Bandar
Lampung City in encouraging people's willingness to walk.
This study uses quantitative and qualitative approaches in the analysis to answer
research questions. The research method used is divided into three parts based on
objective analysis. There are three groups of objects analysis that contain
measurement variables, namely environmental conditions, sociodemography, and
individual perceptions. The first is the method of calculating connectivity, integrity,
and intelligibility. The first calculation method will be used to quantitatively
determine the accessibility of green open spaces in Bandar Lampung City. Second,
using chi-square test calculations and logistic regression. The second method aims
to identify factors that influence people's willingness to walk. Furthermore, the
second method is carried out to find the dominant factors that influence people's
willingness to walk. Third, using multiple linear regression. The results will then
be analyzed based on the results of observations of community opinions regarding
their need to support the choice of walking mode.
The results of the study are divided into three main discussions, namely the ease of
open space accessibility, the willingness to walk by the community, and the
relationship between green open space accessibility and environmental conditions.
Accessibility of green open space is included in the discussion of environmental
conditions. The calculation results show that green open space in Bandar Lampung
City has a high ease of accessibility. This means that green open space is a space
that is easily accessible to the public. However, the ease of accessibility of green
open spaces in Bandar Lampung City does not influence encourage people to decide
to choose to walk. Accessibility calculations generate integrity and connectivity
values for the local scale. Pedestrian Kemiling has the highest integrity value, which
is 1.62. This shows that Kemiling Pedestrian is easy to reach local scale greetings
directly or indirectly.
vi
Based on statistical tests, it shows that the accessibility of green open spaces in
Bandar Lampung City does not affect the willingness of the community to walk.
This is because the condition of green open space in Bandar Lampung City cannot
be said to be feasible to support pedestrian activities, especially road pedestrians.
Pedestrian roads recorded in decent condition are 4.5% of the total pedestrian
length. The results showed that individual perception was the most influencing
factor in people's willingness to walk. Five variables influence individual
perception factors, namely walking time to school/work, driving too fast, travel, the
attractiveness of green open space, and the importance of green open space. While
sociodemographic factors indicate that four variables influence, namely the
condition of disability, education, vehicle ownership, and employment status.
Factors that influence the environmental conditions of the building simultaneously
are land use and crime. Observations noted that 77% of the people of Bandar
Lampung City have an interest in walking mode if there is an increase in the quality
of infrastructure and facilities. |
