The potential for marine tourism, especially coral garden ecotourism in the coastal area of Pangandaran Beach, is studied as an effort to strengthen existing of marine tourism. The purpose of this research is to study the potential and management of coral gardens as an alternative application of sustainable tourism principles in the Pangandaran Beach area. This research using descriptive method with primary and secondary data. Observation, interviews, distributing questionnaires and reviewing through literature studies used to collect research data. Descriptive methods is used to describe the state of the object being studied based on the facts that actually appear. In this study, the adaptive management cycle is one of the approaches applied in making recommendations for coral management as a sustainable ecotourism attraction. The results indicates and produce several recommendations for sustainable tourism management of coral garden as an object of ecotourism activity on Pangandaran Beach. The proposed management plan is based on the results of the analysis of the implications of biophysical, socio-economic, socio-ecological, ecological-economic, and reviewing the estimated economic value of coral resources for tourism activities. The recommendation for the coral ecotourism management area on Pangandaran Beach are; (1) Determination of area boundaries; (2) Management of coral areas as ecotourism optimally, (3) The need for efforts to prevent damage to coral ecosystems to be used as ecotourism areas, (4) Adaptation of management of resource areas based on laws and regulations for conservation and sustainable tourism activities. So, the management is expected to have a positive impact on environmental recovery efforts, minimize the impact of climate change and support sustainable tourism activities on Pangandaran Beach. |
