Summary: | Dayak Kayan tattoos are one of the traditions inherited from ancestors in Indonesian culture which have various meanings and functions of the rich variety of decorations in them. But in reality, the Dayak Kayan tattoo culture is starting to be abandoned because it is eroded by the current modernization. Dayak Kayan tattoos are often studied in various aspects, but it is rare to find a revitalization effort that is a solution to preventing extinction. Therefore, there is a need for an innovation in an effort to revitalize the Dayak Kayan Tattoo motif in the form of visual archiving. Ceramic crafts that are useful as practical and aesthetic objects can produce objects that are solid, strong, waterproof and durable, which can be used as an alternative form. The nature of clay as the main material of ceramics which is plastic and elastic can make it possible to design decorative lamps with various methods and decorations that can contain motifs from Dayak Kayan tattoos that need to be preserved. The research was conducted through experimentation or exploration of visuals in the form of Dayak Kayan tattoo motifs and their application as ornaments in the design of decorative lights. The research is expected to be an inspiration in making ceramic craft objects as an approach to preserving Dayak Kayan tattoo motifs. |
