Description
Summary:Abstract:

The leave of french bean (Phaseolus vulgaris Linn., Papilionaceae) is a waste from agriculture cultivation, but traditionally used for iron supplement and inducing breast milk. Whereas, research and publication about its chemical compound are limited, therefore this research was perform to study its chemical constituents. Crude drug was extracted with reflux, the ethyl acetate extract was fractionated by vaccum liquid chromatography, purified by preparative thin layer chromatography, and characterized by specific spray reagent, ultraviolet-visible, and infrared spectrophotometers. Phytochemical screening of the leaf showed the presence of steroid/triterpenoid, cathecat tannin and flavonoid compounds. Isolates having a maximum wavelength at 207 nm. Isolate was presumed to be triterpenoid having -OH, -CH aliphatic, and C=C groups without any conjugated double bond.
