| Summary: | Batik larangan is an artifact with high philosophy. One of the larangan pattern is the kawung motif. Kawung batik has gone through a phase from which it was originally classified to individuals from the aristocratic circle, into blending in with society over time. This behavioral pattern can also be seen in the preppy style which started from the upper classes in the United States and spread to become one of the most popular styles in the fashion industry. The difference with the preppy style is that kawung batik has not caught much of the youth market interest, so new efforts are needed to attract young people to wear kawung batik. It is necessary to apply the kawung batik motif to preppy-style fashion products so that young people can see kawung batik as a fashion product with a more modern style. This research was conducted by conducting exploration and literature study. The result of this research is the development of the kawung motif which is then applied to preppy-style fashion products with digital printing, and knitting techniques.
