Soil mesofauna is one of the soil organisms that remodel organic matter in the soil, so that it plays a role in maintaining soil quality. Good soil quality is characterized by high organic matter. One of the organic matter in coffee plantation is coffee leaf litter. This study analyzed the soil mesofauna community in coffee leaf litter in wet and dry condition. The research period was carried out in wet conditions (May-June, October-November) and dry conditions (July-September). Litter bags were placed at 10 points at two locations, namely garden A (5 points) and garden B (5 points). Litter bags were collected every 28 days as many as 10 bags and measured the microclimate with thermohygrometer and edaphic with a soil tester. Coffee leaf litter samples were extracted by the Berlese-Tullgren method for the preservation of soil mesofauna. Soil mesofauna found in coffee leaf litter in May-November 2021 were 6 classes, 23 orders, 80 families, 166 species, and 924 individuals. Individual abundance and mesofauna species richness correspond to rainfall values. The abundance of soil mesofauna individuals was highest in wet conditions is Collembola class (270 individuals) and in dry condition is Arachnida class (245 individuals). The highest relative abundance of species in wet conditions was Entomobryidae 11 and in dry conditions was Ceratozetidae 1. Soil mesofauna diversity was higher in wet conditions than in dry conditions. Individual abundance and soil mesofauna diversity differences in wet and dry conditions were supported by lower soil pH, and higher soil temperature, soil moisture, c-organic, and nitrogen content in wet conditions. text |
