Summary: | Death is the end of the life of a person or a living being marked by the loss of body functions. In responding to someone's death, the closest people, both family or relatives, hold a death ceremony as a person's last respect. The death ceremony is carried out according to local customs. Mexico is one of the countries that has a death ceremony called Dia de los Muertos. Dia de los Muertos was held lively and has symbols that have the potential to be further processed into a artwork. By doing a visual study and material exploration, tapestry and puff- screen printing were chosen, which have a synergy similar to some of the symbols of the Dia de los Muertos festival. The interior craft was chosen as the final product because it has a philosophy similar to the general philosophy of the Dia de los Muertos festival, which is the day when spirits return to their families' homes. This study focuses on the creation of lamp using punch needle techniques and puff screen printing with inspiration from symbols from the Dia de los Muertos festival. |
