Description
Summary:Since the Dutch colonial period until the present, the city of Bandung has developed into a metropolitan city whose the development is human-oriented and tends not to be environmentally friendly. This can be seen from the many physical structures established in the form of buildings in the city of Bandung. The impact that arises from these conditions is the existence of environmental problems caused by the reduced number of green spaces in the city of Bandung, such as increasing air temperature, deteriorating groundwater quality, and increasing levels of pollutants in the air. Not only that, during its development period, the construction of physical structures in the city of Bandung also did not pay attention to the objects of cultural heritage owned because of the low awareness and concern of the community towards cultural heritage objects, especially cultural heritage objects in the form of buildings. In addition, the loss and deterioration of the physical quality of cultural heritage objects in the city of Bandung is also caused by the lack of consistency of regulations governing the conservation of cultural heritage objects. The city of Bandung, which is closely related to the history of the railway, left a historical legacy in the form of a storage warehouse complex that served as a place to store tools and goods in carrying out railway activities during the Dutch administration on the island of Java, namely the Cikudapateuh Inventory Warehouse. The warehouse, which has been operating since 1928, has had a number of events, starting from when it was used by the Dutch railway service, Staatsspoorwegen (SS), then changing hands to Rikuyu Sokyoku during the Japanese occupation, until finally starting to be abandoned in 1987 when it was taken over by the Railway Department. Republic of Indonesia (DKARI) since independence. This warehouse occupies an area of 20 hectares in the middle of a densely populated residential area in the city of Bandung. The land, which is dominated by green areas, has the potential to become a new green open space in the city of Bandung with 21 historic buildings with a warehouse typology along with other historical elements such as railroad tracks, telegraph poles, cranes, and even wild vegetation found on the land. The historical heritage of the land makes this land have a high historical value so that planning and design must be based on historic urban landscape approach. Based on the results of macro and micro-scale analysis conducted on land, data collection on development plans by land owners and developers, recommendations for new open spaces in Bandung City, as well as literature studies conducted to formulate planning and design criteria that require land to be developed into open spaces. which is dominated by greenery and accommodates recreational facilities as well as education about the history of the railway without forgetting the necessity of land in managing rainwater and wastewater. The planning applied to this green open space applies design concepts and strategies that make landscape space a place to study and explore history related to land other than through programmed facilities, namely recreational, educational, and commercial facilities. In addition, planning is also carried out by taking into account the historical significance values that affect the land structure plan, green planning, and the use of materials. The design carried out on the land has a strategy to restore the character of the Bandung City landscape which affects the selection and planting of plants, visually emphasizes historical objects found on the land, and provides historical education enlightenment to visitors through landscape design. The design of this green open space has a final goal, namely to provide a new understanding and perspective to the people of Bandung City regarding the importance of cultural heritage objects as an aspect of forming the city's identity.
