INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/67794 South Tangerang has enormous potential in housing creation. As a buffer for the Capital Region of Jakarta that encourages economic growth, many new houses were built in response of providing newcomer primary needs. However, as the era shifted to the millennial generation, conventional housing prices in South Tangerang has an increasingly sharp increase. This is triggered by several factors such as limited built-up area, high demand for housing, and rising construction costs. While on the other hand, the millennial generation average salary increase can't keep up with the conventional housing prices. This impacts their ability to own a conventional residence. Although there are many conventional housings that tends to be cheaper on the city outskirts, South Tangerang inadequate mass transportation system became an obstacle for the millennial generation to have housing in the area. In the end, it takes housing to the city center with land prices that are relatively more expensive than the outskirts but can optimize land use and the effectiveness of construction time such as apartments by using modular building concept. However, there is a drawback with conventional apartment buildings that generally have a very private inter-residential layout. This can trigger the residents of these apartments to become more individualistic and less suitable for the Indonesian collectivist culture. Even though millennials tend to be more individualistic, but they live among all the other generation which is older or younger and they still need to be more socially active. Therefore, housing concept that can encourage interaction between residents of the millennial generation is needed, namely co-housing or co-living. In other words, this task aims to provide affordable housing and prioritize social aspects for the millennial generation through the case of apartment buildings. text
