Description
Summary:Urban farming has been one of the alternatives in the future to answer the growing number of population in urban area which is predicted to be 68% of the mass population by 2050. Three sisters is a polyculture cultivation system which combines corn, beans from Fabaceae, and squash which will produce more profit and optimize field usage. To increase the productivity of the plant, pollination and growth space are the two fatal components in this system. The research was conducted for 5 months starting from October 2021 to February 2022 with the help of drip irrigation with 3 different treatments of growth space by variating the size of the growbag from 75 L, 100 L, and 200 L with each treatment consists of 6 repetitions. The study was conducted by measuring the weight of the pod, the length of the pod, and the diameter of the pod. Based on the result, for dimeter, weight, and the length of the pod, plant which were grown in the 100 L growbag showed the best best result compared to the other two treatments. As for the nutrition component, common beans which were grown in the 75 L and 200 L growbag showed the highest nutrition component and there was no significant difference between the two. There was no effect showed by the pollination done by Trigona laeviceps to the productivity of common beans in three sisters system.
