Description
Summary:The demand for foodstuffs, especially vegetables and fish, continues to increase as the population increases, this is inversely proportional to the area of available agricultural land and its less sustainable use. There needs to be innovation that not only focuses on increasing productivity but also pays attention to balance, one of which is the aquaponic cultivation system. Lettuce and tilapia are commodities that are often cultivated in aquaponics, this system is considered sustainable but requires a fairly high investment cost compared to other systems. For this reason, research was conducted that aims to analyze the cultivation process and biological processes that occur in the cultivation of lettuce and tilapia in NFT aquaponics system, analyze the feasibility of the cultivation business, and determine the status of business sustainability in terms of economic, ecological, and social dimensions. The research design consists of descriptive quantitative research. The analysis used includes descriptive analysis, analysis of investment feasibility criteria (PP, NPV, IRR, and PI), and sustainability status analysis (MDS Rapfish). The results showed that the cultivation process consists of the preparatory stage, seeding lettuce seeds, stocking tilapia fry, maintenance, control, and harvesting. In the biological process of aquaponics, nitrification becomes important because it can balance the ecosystems of three groups of organisms (tilapia, lettuce, and bacteria). Based on the financial aspect, it was found that the business was feasible to run with a PP value of 2 years and 22 days, NPV of IDR 230,937,236, IRR of 52.32%, and PI of 5.2. The status of business sustainability in multidimensional includes the category of quite sustainable (73.52), judging from the average value of the ecological dimension (76.28/sustainable), the economic dimension (74.7/quite sustainable) and the social dimension (69.57/quite sustainable).
