SEMANGKO SEGMENT ANALYSIS OF THE SUMATRA FAULT BASED ON AEROGRAVITY DATA OF SOUTH SUMATRA

INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/67912 Sumatra Island is located in an oblique subduction zone of the Indian-Australian plate from the southwest which extends down the Eurasian plate. As a result of this oblique subduction, a strike-slip fault Great Sumatran Fault (GSF) were formed along the island of Sumatra and southern segmen of the GSF is the Semangko Fault. The Aerogravity data modelling is still rare and not so maximal. This study of the semangko segment in Southern Sumatra was carried out using aerogravity data of the Geospatial Information Agency (BIG). This study purposed to model subsurface structures regionally with gravity anomalous from aerogravity data. The Crossover analysis method is used to see the quality of the airbone data and forward modelling. The difference of cross-over values ranges from 0.00 to 4.24 mGal, this difference value can be used for play identification. The focal mechanism of the study area is dominated by strike-slip fault, this fault makes the Eastern block of and the Western blockt of the fault have differences in rock lithology. The distribution of earthquake events often occurs in Block I and Block III. Overall, the hypocenter distribution of earthquakes in modeling is more prevalent in the Lower Crust layer. text
