The economic and population growth in Pontianak city for the last couple of years have rapidly increased. Based on RTRWK Pontianak 2002-2012, Pontianak city is going to be developed as an international city with Water Front City (WFC) concept. To support WFC concept and Pontianak city population growth, a good and appropriate sanitation facility is required for Pontianak citizen. The sewerage is system expected to increase the quality of environmental sanitation, which by the end of the day supports a healthy and productive society. The sewerage service area of SPAB Pontianak are West Pontianak, Pontianak Kota, and South Pontianak district. By the end of service year Pontianak city population is 796,581 The amount of consumer served are 316,522 people, so the total percentage of SPAB Pontianak city is 39,74percent. According to the evaluation of poor on-site sanitation system facilities, rapidly population growth, relatively flat area, and flood area caused by rise and fall of Kapuas river tides, thus the most applicable sewerage system is Small Bore Sewer. Small Bore Sewer System is a sewerage system which lead the septic tank effluent to the WWTP, and the solids portion which accumulate in the tanks removed periodically to the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP). In designing the appropriate sewerage system, several pipe line alternatives have to be considered. Based on economic and technical consideration, alternative number three has been chosen as the best alternative. Alternative number three is the modular sewerage system, which has the total pipe length of 22,622 m with eleven pumping stations.Furthermore the design of the sewerage system for Pontianak city will be discussed, including the detail design of the pipe line network and the supporting installation in constructing the sewerage system. text |
