FFAR is a simple solidpropellant rocket used for air-to-ground attack. For a long time, all of those rockets are obtained by importing it from another nation. This research aims to identify the material of the liner component from FFAR rocket by doing literature review and different types of test like spectroscopy, thermal test, and chemical test. The spectroscopy was carried out by Fourier Transmission Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). Thermal tests were carried out using Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA), Differential Thermal Analysis (DTA), Derivative Thermogravimetry (DTG), and Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC). Chemical tests were carried out to confirm the results of the spectroscopy and thermal test analysis. The test results and literature review were collected and analyzed to determine the material for the FFAR rocket liner. The results of the FTIR test shows that liner’s material contains aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, hydroxyl, alkene groups, organic nitrates, and single bonds of CO. The results of the thermal test show that the material begins to experience exothermic degradation at a temperature of 200°C and endothermic degradation at a temperature of 350°C. Based on the literature review, spectroscopy, thermal and chemical tests, it can be concluded that the liner in the FFAR rocket sample obtained from Dislitbang TNI AU is based on phenolic resin. text |

In the defense of Indonesia’s airspace through TNI AU, one of the weapons inside
their arsenal is Folding Fin Aircraft Rocket (FFAR). FFAR is a simple solidpropellant
rocket used for air-to-ground attack. For a long time, all of those rockets
are obtained by importing it from another nation. This research aims to identify
the material of the liner component from FFAR rocket by doing literature review
and different types of test like spectroscopy, thermal test, and chemical test.
The spectroscopy was carried out by Fourier Transmission Infrared Spectroscopy
(FTIR). Thermal tests were carried out using Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA),
Differential Thermal Analysis (DTA), Derivative Thermogravimetry (DTG), and
Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC). Chemical tests were carried out to
confirm the results of the spectroscopy and thermal test analysis. The test results
and literature review were collected and analyzed to determine the material for the
FFAR rocket liner.
The results of the FTIR test shows that liner’s material contains aliphatic and
aromatic hydrocarbons, hydroxyl, alkene groups, organic nitrates, and single
bonds of CO. The results of the thermal test show that the material begins to
experience exothermic degradation at a temperature of 200°C and endothermic
degradation at a temperature of 350°C. Based on the literature review,
spectroscopy, thermal and chemical tests, it can be concluded that the liner in the
FFAR rocket sample obtained from Dislitbang TNI AU is based on phenolic resin. |
