The preservation of this traditional weaving craft culture is very important because in addition to maintaining national identity, it also has great potential in the fields of education, economy, and tourism. One area that has traditional weaving as one of its creative industries is West Java. However, due to several problems such as weak marketing, decreasing orders, difficulty in obtaining labor, and difficulty in obtaining permanent raw material suppliers, West Java weaving has decreased both in quality and quantity compared to other weaving producing areas. Based on these problems, the West Java Traditional Weaving Center and Workshop project, located at Jalan Pembangunan, Tarogong Kidul District, Garut Regency, aims to preserve traditional weaving activities. It is hoped that the community can use this facility as a means of recreation and education in deepening their knowledge of the weaving craft. This project also aims to help appreciate and assist traditional weaving craftsmen economically and socially with various activities and facilities that can be accommodated by the project. This project has two main functions, namely the function of the traditional weaving culture center and the function of the weaving workshop as a means of practical cultural learning. text |
