Description
Summary:The rayon fiber industries produce components such as pulp, viscose, and lyocell. The rayon fiber industries also generate wastewater with a high concentration of sulfate. Sulfate is a chemical compound that is often used as a perimeter for waters by reason of accumulated sulfate in high concentrations in waters such as lake, river, and sea will produce sulfide which is toxic that can contaminate and pollute the environment. Chemical precipitation method is one of the most effective methods to eliminate high concentration sulfate. This research aim is to discover reaction condition for ettringite precipitation such as the optimum reagen dose in the form of Al(OH)3, the initial pH of the optimum solution, optimum solution temperature, and optimum detention time to achieve the highest removal efficiency. According to the results of the research, the initial pH of the optimum solution is 7, with the removal efficiency up to 99%. Then, the optimum solution temperature is at 25 oC with the removal efficiency reaches 99,5%. Afterward, the optimum dose of Al(OH)3 is Al/S with the dose 1:1 with the removal efficiency reaches 99,3%. Lastly, the best detention time is 30 minutes with the removal efficiency 99,5%
