Description
Summary:Water scarcity has been worsening these days. Indonesia as an archipelagic country has huge natural water sources, especially salt water. Desalination technology has been one of the best solutions to solve this problem because of its capability to change salt water into fresh and potable water. In ITB, there have been a handful of research to see which variablt can easily affect the amount of distilled water with the help of independent solar desalination unit. In this study, an independent solar desalination unit was designed with the best variable from the previous study. The result shows that the device can produce distilled water for up to 2.778 L/m2.8hours with 20o inclination and 2.178 L/m2.8hours with 30o inclination which increased up to 154%-829% from the previous studies in ITB. The inclination difference from 30o to 20o able is to increase distilled water production up to 28% and efficiency from 19.72% to 23.35%. The distilled water already fulfilled most of the standard sets by PerMenKes Nomor 492 Tahun 2010 for TDS, conductivity, and salinity parameters. Although, the pH parameter of the water still has not met the criteria and needs to be treated because of the low pH range that is between 3.92-4.19.
