Description
Summary:TPST Bantargebang, located in Bekasi City, is a final waste processing site that serves waste from the DKI Jakarta Province. The total area of TPST Bantargebang is 110,3 Ha, of which 81,91% of the total area of TPST Bantargebang is landfill and the remaining 18,09% is used for infrastructure, such as entrances, offices, and leachate treatment plants. TPST Bantargebang has accommodated waste from Jakarta since 1989 and is predicted to reach its full capacity in 2021, so a rehabilitation plan is needed, one of which is the management and utilisation of biogas from landfills. The management of landfill biogas is aimed at protecting the environment from the effects of greenhouse gases (GHG) and also as the utilisation of renewable energy sources. Biogas management consists of gas capture, gas flow, and gas utilisation. The landfill is covered with a final geomembrane cover and a vertical well facility is constructed to capture the biogas produced. The biogas is then sent to a processing facility, namely desulfurisation to remove H2S content, removal of water vapor by cooling, and removal of CO2 by pressure swing adsorption (PSA) process. The gas is then stored in freestanding double membrane gas storage to handle fluctuations in the use of methane gas. Methane gas is used as a source of energy for power generation, CNG, and is also used directly by the community as kitchen stove gas. Based on the energy content, the potential for house connections is 24,000 and electrical energy is 6 MW. The budget plan for the investment cost of biogas management and utilisation at TPST Bantargebang was obtained at Rp345.855.000.000,00. With a design discharge of 8.000 m3/hour (raw biogas), the investment cost per biogas discharge is Rp43.232.000,00/(m3/hour) or about 2.882 USD/(m3/hour).
