The sleeper luxury train is KAI's latest innovation. This train has two generations. The innovation presented on this train is a passenger seat that has features to accommodate comfort and provide a sense of luxury to passengers. but these two designs are perceived differently by train passengers. It was found that the design of the 1st generation luxury sleeper train seats has a perception that is more in line with the branding made by KAI and is considered more attractive than the 2nd generation luxury sleeper train seat designs. 2. This study uses a qualitative research approach with interviews conducted with stakeholders related to this passenger train seat project to uncover the causes of changes in the design of this train seat. Interviews were conducted with the director of ITSDC as the main designer who collaborated on the 1st generation luxury sleeper train chair project, INKA RnD staff, and former INKA staff holders of the 438 stainless train projects. 2 and reveal the causes of design differences, namely, Changes in the design brief by KAI which then changed the design reference of INKA and in the end changed the design development project scheme.
