Summary: | The Covid-19 pandemic has had a major impact on various sectors of life in Indonesia, one of which is the education sector. The government encourages the implementation of online learning with already existing online learning platforms to ease the process. Google Classroom is one of the most widely used online learning platforms in Indonesia. However, based on preliminary studies that have been conducted, most Google Classroom users have difficulty using it.
This study aims to determine the usability level of Google Classroom and design new improvements based on the usability evaluation results. Usability evaluation conducted in this study is a summative evaluation with usability testing method through performance measurement and Think-Aloud protocol. The usability attributes used in this study are efficiency, effectiveness, and user satisfaction. Data collecting in this study involved two groups of participants, the new user group and the expert user group.
The research results showed that overall, the features tested in this study are all effective. Meanwhile, for the level of efficiency, the results showed that the completion time of the two groups of participants was significantly different in the features used in task 3. User satisfaction was determined based on the results of the QUIS's score and the result was 6.51, which means users were quite satisfied with the user interface of Google Classroom. However, based on the results of the RTA, it is known that participants still have problems and complaints related to Google Classroom. With the Concept Generation Method, seven proposed improvements were obtained to solve usability problems in Google Classroom.
