Description
Summary:Abstract:
Numerical modelling of hydrodynamic and sediment transport driven bay tidal current has been done to simulate sedimentation and erosion pattern in Pulau Baai Harbor, Bengkulu. The transport model is 2D horizontal wth explicit finite difference scheme. Verification of the models has been carried out in this area bay comparing simulation results with data observed bay PPGL (2001). The verification results show a good agreement with data, in which the maximum differences between simulation and data in water surface elevation and current velocity are ± 4.6 cm/s respectively. The maximum tidal range and current velocity in this area respectively 103.8 cm and 33cm/s. in general, simulation results of sediment transport in this area comparable to the observed data, although in some area of the harbor, the simulation results do not fit data nicely.
Simulation result of hydrodynamic model also show that maximum current velocities in spring flood and ebd tide conditions are 95.4 cm/s respectively. In northeast part of the harbor pond and at the east part of the harbor inlet, whereas sedimentation occurs in the southwest part of the harbor pond and the west part of the inlet. Simulation of sediment transport, that only consider the M2 tide residual current as deriving force, gives similar result with the simulation that considering total component of tidal current.
