Three regular GNI exhibitions, namely Manifesto Pandemic, Koleksi Seni Rupa Nasional Exhibition, and Terra (In) Cognita Exhibition are samples that will be discussed in this research. This research examines the changing format of online from offline exhibitions, especially the practice of curating, and how this format is able to be an accommodating alternative format for museums in Indonesia. This research also illustrates the advantages, disadvantages, and challenges of online exhibitions from the point of management during and post-pandemic. Differences in the curatorial concept can expand the definition of art by involving the public as exhibitors and co-curators in the Manifesto Pandemic and Poros exhibitions. The conclusion of this research is that public involvement can provide new experiences and increase engagement in exhibitions. The curatorial practice of online exhibitions can be so rich if the curator also masters communication, interactivity, and features on the internet. The curatorial practice integrates with digital communication practice. text |

Indonesia's online exhibition formats are growing, especially due to the ongoing
pandemic in 2020. The National Gallery of Indonesia (GNI) is one of the
government museums that actively makes exhibitions in an online format. Three
regular GNI exhibitions, namely Manifesto Pandemic, Koleksi Seni Rupa Nasional
Exhibition, and Terra (In) Cognita Exhibition are samples that will be discussed in
this research.
This research examines the changing format of online from offline exhibitions,
especially the practice of curating, and how this format is able to be an
accommodating alternative format for museums in Indonesia. This research also
illustrates the advantages, disadvantages, and challenges of online exhibitions from
the point of management during and post-pandemic. Data in this research from
through literature studies, interviews, and observations using qualitative methods.
This research found that online exhibitions are an alternative presentation that is
good accommodating as an exhibition that replaces physical exhibitions.
Differences in the curatorial concept can expand the definition of art by involving
the public as exhibitors and co-curators in the Manifesto Pandemic and Poros
exhibitions.
The conclusion of this research is that public involvement can provide new
experiences and increase engagement in exhibitions. The curatorial practice of
online exhibitions can be so rich if the curator also masters communication,
interactivity, and features on the internet. The curatorial practice integrates with
digital communication practice.
