Description
Summary:Every artist has their own perceptions towards something and their own aesthetic experience that leads to a unique way of creating art. As art forms grow time to time, an artist could often forget to see the importance of seeing art as it is. A diamond as a subject matter for an artwork could be portrayed as a symbol towards something, an expression of wonder, or to show off skills in representing it realistically. Diamond in general is more demanded for its __, its value, or a great meaning towards something personal. The formal aspect of a diamond from the way it’s naturally formed becomes less noticed. Aside from the complex visual of diamond and the symbols or metaphors lies in a diamond, the lines, colors, shape that makes diamond the way it is has been neglected. Art, too, in some extremes have too long been more about representations of the real thing, or expressions of emotions of the artist, or a social critic. Formalism brings back the importance of forms in art. Rather than imitating a real object, expressing self, or criticizing social issues, the art form and the subject matter should be enjoyed as it is. In painting with the formalism approach, an artist cares more to present a visual that emphasizes more on forms along with the exploration of medium that supports the idea best. Diamond’s complexity lies in its form. The straight cut lines, the combinations of light and color, the shapes, and composition of a diamond could be highly appreciated through an art with formalism approach. Although formalism art usually neglects the image of the subject matter, creating an artwork that emphasizes on forms and neglecting the whole image of diamond would be unfortunate.
