Summary: | Management of marine and fisheries resources involves interrelated business
processes. The business process is implemented into a web-based application with
the main users being business actors. Business actors must register themselves on
a central application as a prerequisite for registering on a licensing application.
Application integration is currently carried out by sharing valid business actor data
from the central application to the licensing application through data services on
point-to-point channels. The problem is that business actors must register for the
same data on different applications. In addition, the validation process between the
central application and the licensing application also involves the same steps. The
registration and validation process for business actors can be integrated to reduce
steps for business actors and validators. The registration and validation functions
in the central application can be used as a service for use in licensing applications
as a client. However, the abstraction level of the central application does not allow
for better reusability. There needs to be an architectural design that can increase
the reuse of components to be used in other applications so as to increase efficiency
for business actors.
The design of the application integration architecture is carried out using a
Service-oriented architecture (SOA) approach and developed using the service-
oriented computing architecture modeling method (SOCAM) which provides
convenience with the availability of guidelines for users. SOA allows reuse of
software components and can exchange information (interoperable) through
service interfaces. In this study, application integration with SOA was carried out
in a case study of the application process for the issuance of cards for the main
actors of marine and fisheries. The resulting service is then used by other business
processes to prove the SOA principle, which is loosely coupled and reusable.
The results showed that the SOCAM method can produce an application integration
architecture design that can improve reusability. The results of the implementation
of the architecture show a low coupling factor, high cohesion factor, low complexity
factor, and high reusability factor. Architectural design can increase efficiency as
indicated by the reduced number of steps that must be taken by business actors in
registering by up to 57 percent, and the reduction in the number of steps for
validators in validating up to 71 percent. The implementation of the application
integration architecture shows that the average execution time of business actor
registration is reduced by 51 percent, while the average execution time of business
actor validation is reduced by 71 percent. |
