"Being" or better known as "Makhluk" in Indonesian has become a subject in the field of
philosophy. The existence of this creature itself can be broadly divided into two rough
divisions, namely creatures that have physical and real forms and creatures that are unreal.
However, this has actually become an interesting debate among philosophers because the
definition of the existence of a physical being has reached a stage where the classification of
"physical" and "non-physical" levels with the parameters "real" and "unreal" is considered
unreasonable. .
The work "MANGSA Series" is an attempt by the author to be able to describe the visualization
of the existence of this "creature" or "being" form the author’s imagination as a living entity
with reflection and basic exploration on the basic elements of art such as line, shape, and color.
Painting media was chosen by the author as the right media because of the author's need to
explore the existence of pseudo-space and the sense of "life" in a two-dimensional field.
The technique of abstraction or simplification of form from lines, shapes, and colors was finally
chosen in the contemplation and search of the author to create works that focus on exploring
the boundaries of the depiction of living things. The medium used is acrylic on canvas. The
author hopes that this work can provide a visualization of the author's contemplation of the
essence of "creatures" and can inspire its own views or meanings to the audience.
