Description
Summary:The biomass industry in Indonesia is carried out as an alternative energy source to replace the existing energy. One of the energy sources is biomass energy, where the energy source is easily obtained and can be renewed. One of the government's efforts in managing Biomass as an energy source is by assigning Perum Perhutani through KPH Purwakarta to manage Biomass plants by managing Gamal plants (Gliricidia sepium) since 2019. There are differences in growth of Gamal plants in the BKPH Cipeundeuy area, plot 70c-2 and plot 69e. -1. Thus, it is necessary to conduct research to determine the characteristics and quality of Gamal wood as energy wood. The characteristics studied were moisture content, ash content, volatile matter content, and fixed carbon content which were then used to determine the calorific value of Gamal plants. The results showed that in plot 70c-2, Gamal wood produced a calorific value of 4803.04 kcal/kg higher than Gamal wood in plot 69e-1 of 3768.43 kcal/kg. The calorific value of Gamal wood is measured based on the characteristics of Gamal wood in the form of ash content, volatile matter content, and bound carbon content. It is necessary to improve growth so that Gamal wood can produce optimal heating value.
