Study on forecasting of yellowfin tuna fishing ground using NOAA and TOPEX satellite images was applied in Southern Java and Western Sumatra Waters. Fishing ground location is determined by the lowest sea level anomaly. The area with the lowest sea level anomaly is identified as upwelling area after overlaying upwelling temperature with the lowest sea level anomaly. <br />

The data which were used are sea surface temperature from NOAA, sea level anomaly from TOPEX and yellowfin tuna catch from PT. Samudera Besar Jakarta in 1997 and 1999. The overlay result of sea level anomaly with tuna fishing ground in Southern Java Waters shown a good agreement. <br />

The same method was applied to predict fishing ground in Western Sumatra Waters. The abundance months of yellowfin tuna is determined by overlaying sea level anomaly with temperature of yellowfin tuna catch <br />
