UHI or Urban Heat Island, which is a phenomenon where the temperature of the city center is higher than the surrounding area, is one of the causes of high temperatures in Surabaya. UHI has an impact on several interrelated aspects. On the environmental aspect, UHI worsens the quality of the environment where pollution is increasing and can worsen global warming. Aspects of productivity and human health also deteriorate along with the deteriorating quality of the environment. In addition to the negative influence on human activities, UHI also indirectly affects the urban economy. When the productivity of the community, especially the workforce decreases, the urban economy will also decline. In 2019, Surabaya City is known to have a UHI index of 2 points. This project will focus on the effect of UHI on human productivity and health, especially in the workforce. Responding to these problems, the presence of nature in buildings is proven to be able to increase productivity and human health and can contribute to reducing the effects of UHI. Therefore, a rental office building will be designed with a biophilic architectural approach. In addition, several UHI mitigation strategies are also applied to buildings to reduce the effects of UHI in the building area. This rental office building also has several supporting facilities such as a convention hall, commercial functions (restaurants, cafes, mini markets, ATM centers, and several small retails), and a rooftop garden. text
