It is a country not only a haven for floras and faunas for its optimal tropical climate, but also haven for businesses to operate due to a low cost and large abundant of natural resources available. This has caused for Indonesia to go under a great spotlight for being one of the leading waste contributors in the world. Being one of the largest and most populated country in the world, the mass waste produced has caused in the rise of extinction for the rich flora and faunas in which is causing alarming troubles to the world. Studies has shown that businesses play a great role in society on the way it functions and environmental condition which relates to its waste contribution. It has been found that the 20 large businesses in the world upholds 55% of the plastic waste globally. This proves upon how much of an impact business play a role for the environment itself. This study will discuss in ways how different businesses sectors could perform in the mitigation of poor waste management using digital tools. As different businesses sectors have different activities, it is most fitting to provide an insight and suggestion based on its respective industry. The implementation of digital tools upon this discourse is highly important especially in today’s context of Industry 4.0. There is a sense of urgency for Indonesian businesses to be able to adapt and take advantage of the advancement of technology there is now in the market today. As the implementation of digital tools would be able to support and mitigate the catastrophe there is right now. Studies has found through the implementation of digital tools, it has allowed activity of a business to be more efficient, be cost effective, gain profitability, and increase in productivity. This research paper is exploratory research with an objective to study opportunities of digitalisation towards waste management for the different sectors of businesses in Indonesia. This paper specifically explores and analyses business processes and activities using existing SCOR Model results of 5 sectors of businesses in Indonesia which are Extractive Sector, Manufacturing Sector, Urbanization (Moving and Fixed) Sector, and Control Sector. From this study, it is concluded that the different activities on the different sectors have a common issue rooted up upon the inability to accurately predict demand causing in overstock and hazardous risk of accident due to poor holding system. Inventory system in this study has shown to be an issue for its waste management. Additionally, excess commodity, defected goods, and unusable product causes in the need of disposing even more waste for the businesses. Thus, this has resulted in the suggestion of implementing digital tools such as ERP-Inventory Analytics to gain real time inventory activity, Wireless System Network to be able to store commodity correctly in decrease the risks of accidents and change of product quality, Logistic Alliance Traffic Application for users to coordinates its activity to lower dwell time, and the Take Back Program for business to be able to recycle or dispose its used goods properly. text |
