Summary: | PT Toba Pulp Lestari Tbk. (PT TPL) is a manufacturing company in the Eucalyptus Pulp industry located in North Sumatra, Indonesia. The Learning and Development Division at PT TPL is responsible in evaluating the trainings that are being carried out within the company. The evaluation is carried out based on the Kirkpatrick framework. However, the process is still being carried out at levels 1 and 2 (out of 4 in total) and is still being done manually. These raise several problems, such as the less-than-optimal results of the evaluation and the ineffectiveness of the evaluation. Therefore, PT TPL needs a solution that is able to optimize the implementation of the training evaluation, which in this case will be solved with an information system.
This research aims to design a level 3 evaluation model and an information system that is able to optimize the implementation of training evaluation at PT TPL. The process of designing the level 3 evaluation model was carried out by referring to the Kirkpatrick framework. While the process of designing the information system was being done by using the FAST method. The FAST method was chosen because it is considered to be the most suitable method for developing a simple new system because the stages of work are clear and can be applied to a condition where resources are limited.
The process of designing the level 3 evaluation model in this research includes an evaluating the existing model, designing the level 3 evaluation model, designing the evaluation questionnaire, and designing the data processing which then produces a proposed level 3 evaluation model. While the process of designing the information system includes identification of system requirements, process and data modelling, designing the prototype UI, and constructing the prototype using VBA Excel. These processes then produce a system design and a prototype which are then being verified and validated to ensure that the solution built is able to solve the problems.
