Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) developed LMS Edunex as a replacement for the LMS that was used to facilitate lectures during the pandemic. Based on a preliminary study involving 103 ITB students, usability issues are found within five LMS Edunex features, namely presence feature, access to lecture materials, exam, and individual as well as group assignment feature. The purpose of this study is to evaluate and improve the usability of LMS Edunex. Usability evaluation is carried out by measuring the effectiveness, efficiency, and user satisfaction. This study involved 20 ITB students as participants in the usability experiment by combining within-subject and between-subject design. Participants were required to complete 5 tasks in order to obtain effectiveness data in the form of success rate as well as efficiency data in the form of lostness score and errors. Eye tracking and retrospective think aloud (RTA) were used to study usability issues experienced by the participants. The user satisfaction of each task was measured using the After-Scenario Questionnaire (ASQ) and the user satisfaction of the entire system was measured using the Questionnaire for User Interaction Satisfaction (QUIS). The findings revealed that features related to presence, exam, and individual assignment are ineffective given their success rate which are less than 95%. The presence feature is inefficient because this feature has a lostness score of more than 0.4. Based on ASQ, participants are not satisfied with the presence feature. The result of QUIS, however, indicates that participants are satisfied with the overall system of LMS Edunex. RTA, errors, and eye tracking data are used for a more thorough analysis of each task. 18 recommendations were designed to improve the usability of LMS Edunex. text
