Summary: | Television (TV) is a technology that is developing quite rapidly. The development of analog TV to become mobile TV is influenced by various things such as the development of smartphones, internet availability in various regions, and high human mobility. One of the mobile TVs in Indonesia is UseeTV Go which provides a number of main shows such as live TV, TV on Demand (TVOD), and Video on Demand (VOD). Based on a preliminary study of interviews with UseeTV Go and analysis of the review of the UseeTV Go mobile application on the Play Store, found indications of problems related to the ease of use of the application (usability). Therefore, this study aims to identify and evaluate problems and provide suggestions for improvements based on the usability approach.
Usability evaluation was carried out to 12 participants in the new user and 12 participants from the existing user. Each participant was asked to complete eight test tasks.evaluation Usability metrics eye tracker and retrospective think aloud (RTA). Effectiveness is measured by the success rate of task completion, efficiency is measured by the lostness score and the number of errors, while user satisfaction is measured by the Questionnaire for User Interaction Satisfaction (QUIS).
The results showed that the mobile application was not yet fully effective because Task 3 had an effectiveness value of 62.50%. The mobile application is also not fully efficient because Task 3 has a lostness score of 0.748, Task 4 has a lostness score of 0.513 , and Task 6 has a lostness score of 0.423. User satisfaction shows a fairly good value, namely 5.70 out of 9.00, but the "Screen" characteristic has the lowest satisfaction, which is 4.91 out of 9.00. Error data, RTA, and eye tracker are used to find out in detail the problematic task elements so that improvements can be designed. The improvement proposal was designed using the design thinking and obtained 48 suggestions for improvement along with two implementation models based on the priority of the problem
